Many thanks to the organisers and leaders of the weekend, I'm sure I'm not the only parent to get a very happy camper back home after a super weekend.. I know my son (Cal) was delighted with the late night pizza on Saturday and the rugby win for Ireland.. Well done folks..

Any sign of resurrecting the Father/Mother & Cub weekends?? They were great trips and a fantastic opportunity for people to meet others in their community. Nothing like hunkering down in the glen on a huge sheet of plastic soaking wet and covered in suds playing crab soccer and camping out in Melleray field with someone you would normally pass by on the street! Many good friendships were made on these weekends and it was a shame that they stopped. I guarantee a lot of fathers & mothers who were on these weekends would go again now for the "craic in the Cats" with or without their children!

The father and mother and son weekends were always a great weekend of fun for all concerned. These were run on a regional basis with all the leaders devising the programme and putting it into practise. We (the Deise region) acyually ran the father and cub weekend for would you believe twenty one years, some achievement! I remember the craic in the "cats" was always mighty, the only down side was having to get up early the next morning to go orienteering or on some challenging hike. The "Deise region" is now no more and we are now part of the "Waterford Scout County"! Who knows perhaps it could be revived for one more go, never say never! I'm sure Willie Gal' would look down on us from above and provide plenty of sunshine! Muller.
