Bag Pack March 9th, 10th.
Over this past weekend Parents, Guides, Scouts, Leaders and a Cub were on hand to help with the Bag Pack Weekend. The volunteers arrived on Friday at six o’clock (18:00) and finished on Saturday at six o’clock (18:00). We would like to thank the staff and management of Dunnes Stores Dungarvan for all their help. To all our volunteers, Jenny Power and her Girl Guides, all the Parents, Scouts, Members of Group Council and Leaders who all gave of their time. Thank you all for help. And, a very big and special thanks to all the customers, who were very patient and very generous.
Mount Melleray Catering Crew
It was a very busy weekend for everyone at the 4th, which also had some of the Unit in Mount Melleray Scout Centre on catering crew. It was after doing some time at the Bag Pack that Leaders Kieran and Brendan headed to Melleray to find Brian ‘Muller’ had things in hand. The Leaders were joined by some of the older Scouts, Rhys, Jack, Patrick and a while later by Marco and Cathal. They were all back in Dungarvan on Saturday afternoon to help with the bag pack, and back on Saturday night for the Cub and Scout Meetings. Brian ‘Muller’ was back on Sunday morning to ensure that everything was ship shape. This was the first of this years weekends on crew.
Cub Pack Meeting
With all the goings on outside the Scout Den, it was back to some of the normal routine of the Cub Pack Meeting. Gearoid got things started and Eoghan was chosen to say the Cub Scout Prayer. With ‘Roll Call’ being done by Gearoid and Michael, while Eamonn did some work in the office. Another new game was shown to the Cubs by Gearoid, the clothes game, this involved a bag of clothes being given to each Clan, these were to be put on over their own clothes in a relay style, and as always the first finished at alert. It appeared that one of the teams had been finished with plenty of time but they had forgotten to return one item to the bag. So it was decided to play a game of North, South, East, West, to decide the winners, this was to be a knock out game run by David and Michael, Gearoid, and Brendan judging who was to be knocked out. Malachy’s team were the winners with three of their team being the last in the game.
A quick talk was given on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and all were told to be down at one thirty to be organised for the Parade start time of three o’clock.
The meeting finished up with Eoghan saying the Cub Scout Prayer and downing ’Fall Out’ before heading home.
Scout Troop Meeting
The Patrol’s formed up for the start of the meeting and the saying the Scout Prayer. The Patrols ongoing to their corners went through their next Patrol Activities to be done over the Easter break this is to be an outdoor activity. ‘Roll Call’ was done. And the Scouts too tried the ‘Clothes’ game with some very funny results. For this instead of by Patrols the Scouts were divided into two teams in order of height. We are still not sure who it was that won but it was a game that everyone seemed to enjoy. With some of the smaller Scouts being lost in the larger clothes and the bigger ones having trouble getting the shoes on.
The Scouts gathered with their chairs around the Leaders table for a talk about the St Patrick’s Day Parade. Eamonn asked who would be there and who would not. The plans are for a float. The Scouts can give a hand on Friday night from eight on if they are available.
The Leaders said thanks to all the Scouts who gave up their time to help with the bag pack.
The meeting ended with the Scout Prayer and ‘Fall Out’, and everyone going home.
