Cub News 01/10/06
With a large group of new Cubs trying out the Cub Scout Meeting we started of introducing the Leaders and explaining how things work at the meetings. The Cub Prayer was said by Owen Kirkham with the rest of the Cub Group joining in. a relay game was first played and two teams were sorted in order of height it was close between the two teams of David Sheehan and Owen Kirkham but Owens team just won. A time was spent doing some art and each Cub drew a picture of a boat. The Cubs were asked to write down about what the rescue service for the sea was and where the nearest Lifeboat Station was, what should they do if they see a boat in trouble and whom should they ring. The Leaders then went through the procedure for making a call to the 999/112 services and whom they should ask for and what they should say. A game of North South East West was played to finish up the meeting. Owen said the Cub Prayer before everyone went home. A Cub activity has been planned for Saturday 14/10/06 of bowling a note will be give to everyone at the meeting on Saturday Night.

The Glen
A crew of workers were busy digging around the Cabin in Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin to burry water pipes. The weather was not the best with some very Heavy rain showers but the team worked on, Fintan, Jimmy, Gearoid, David and Brendan did great work and just as the kettle was singing Vinny arrived to check on their efforts. There is still plenty work to be done if anyone can lend a hand contact any of the Leaders.
