Cub News
If there is anyone who may be interested in joining the Cubs have an adult call along to the meeting and talk to one of the Leaders. The Cub age is from 8 years to 10½ /11 years. The normal meeting is on a Saturday Night from seven to eight.
Cub Pack Meeting
Saying the Cub Scout Prayer to start off this weeks meeting was Mathew, with the rest of the Cub Pack joining in. As the weather was so good Gearoid had been busy in the field during the afternoon setting up an Obstacle Course. When ‘Roll Cal’ was finished Eamonn and Gearoid brought the Cubs out to the field. Where each of the Cubs took turns going around the various obstacles. This was great fun for all the Cubs.
Two teams were then formed for a game of soccer with Eamonn in one Gaol and Gearoid in the other. To start with there was one referee but another whistle was brought into play.
The meeting came to an end all to soon for the Cubs and it was back into the Scout Den where Brendan collected the ‘Good Deed Reminders’ from the Cubs, this as we have said before is part of the ‘Bronze Arrow’ that all the Cubs are working on. Mathew said the Cub Scout Prayer to finish up the meting. The Cubs all stood to ‘Alert’ before doing a ‘Salute’ and ‘Fall Out’. There are no section meetings next week due to the bank holiday. Everyone is wished a Happy Easter.
Scout News
If there is anyone who may be interested in joining the Scouts have an adult call along to the meeting and talk to one of the Leaders. The Scout age is from 10½ years to 15/16 years. The normal meeting is on a Saturday Night from eight to nine.
Scout Troop Meeting
Both the Cub Pack and Scout Troop Meetings started at seven this week making the most of the fine weather and the extra hour. After the Cub Scout Prayer was said the Scout Prayer was also said. The ‘Roll-Call’ for each section was then called and everyone went out to the field. The Scouts were going to be getting some practice in pitching tents. Both ‘Ridge Tents’ and ‘Dome Tents’ were put up and the Scouts were shown the different parts of the tents ‘Dolly’ is not just a sheep made in the lab but an important part of the Main Guys, ‘Guys’ are not just another name for a fellow and runners are not just something you wear on your feet.
With the ridge tents the usual problem is matching up poles with tents and missing pegs. The dome tents are a lot less trouble but you have to be twice as careful with them. Three ridge tents were pitched and taken back down. The dome tents were a lot harder to get back into their bags as with the breeze it fluttered around.
Back in the Scout Den there was more talk of the County Challenge Weekend and a practice for all interested will be held on Wednesday at One O’ Clock.
The meeting end with the Scout Prayer. There will be no scout meeting for two weeks, yes two weeks this is due to the Bank Holiday and the County Challenge Weekend the following week. Any Scout that is interested in going can come along to the Training on Wednesday this week.
