Scout Troop Meeting
The meeting this week started at the earlier time of Seven O’Clock, ‘Roll-Call’ was done and the Patrols each got their tables and chair ready as Eamonn did the next part of their ‘General Aviation’ Merit Badge this is one of the Air Activities Merit Badges. Eamonn had done a lot of work for this part of the Merit Badge, he had a colour page for each Scout and an Instruction page that showed how to turn the colour page into a flying version of the ‘Shuttle’. These were gliders. After some time everyone managed to complete this task although some found it more difficult and there was a varied flying technique also.
It was then time to get some air and clear the heads after their work on the gliders. It was down to Abbeyside Strand and the ‘Prom’ where a number of tasks undertaken by everyone. Get 100mls of water, find a feather, three shells, five leaves, measure the prom, were some of the tasks given to the Scouts. Eamonn kept a close eye on how they were doing and was joined by David, Kieran, Sandy and Brendan to check what each patrol had. With a change in the weather it was back to the Scout Den where sitting around at their Patrol Corners. They discussed plans for a Patrol Outdoor Activity over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
The meeting ended with everyone saying the Scout Prayer and ‘Falling Out’ before heading home.

This week Venture Group Meeting is FULL UNIFORM, and starts at seven. If you have any questions get in contact with Sandy.
Venture Hike
On what can only be described as a glorious Saturday morning the Ventures left Mount Melleray on their way up the Knockmealdown Mountains. Their trail would lead them through the paths of Mount Melleray Abbey Farm and up into the maze of paths leading into Mountains. The Sun was high in the sky as the Group trekked upward. The going was tough but an even pace was being kept up. Regular breaks were taken to keep the fluids required on board. The day could not have been better as the view from the top of the hike proved looking back over the Border into Tipperary and again back into Waterford. A tired and hungry Group of Hikers returned to Mount Melleray Scout Centre on time after what was an enjoyable day in the mountains. Check out some of the pictures on the blog.
Mount Melleray Crew
Abbeyside were once again on Crew in Mount Melleray Scout Centre. The Crew was busy but under no real pressure with around seventy in the house and under canvas. The visitors to the Centre were from Douglas in Cork. Muller kept everyone busy, but could not help his team win the late night snooker, it was Gearóid’s ‘Liverpool’ Team that were the victors.
