Cub Pack Meeting
The Meeting started this week as usual with the Cub Scout Prayer, John was the Cub to say the Prayer. The meeting was a Full Uniform one with only the new Cub Scouts not having theirs yet. Gearoid did the ‘Roll-Call’ and then organised a relay game of ‘Dizzy Izzy’, which is always great fun, this was followed by a game of ‘Switch’.
The Cub Scout Pack was the joined by two members from the Dungarvan Garda Station to give a talk to the Cub Scout Pack. They were Garda Ronan Slevin of the Traffic Corps, and Garda Michael Collins Dungarvan Garda Station. The Cubs were given a talk about road safety and how it affects them, when they are out walking, on their bikes, and travelling in cars or buses. The Cubs then had a chance to ask any questions they might have, which covered a wide variety of topics.
The Cubs then had a chance to try out some of the equipment the Garda carry when on duty, handcuffs, Garda cap, truncheon, and torch. Some of the Cub Scouts were able to get their hands out of the handcuffs. The Cubs all thanked the Garda for their time.
The Cubs were then given a notice about next weeks meeting. Next weeks meeting is at Eight O’Clock and is an overnight. Each Cub will need, a sleeping bag, pillow, nightclothes/PJ’s, blanket, bowl, plate, cup, knife, fork, spoon, T-Towel and Full Uniform. The meeting will end at 10:45 am on Sunday Morning. If there are any questions, you can get in contact with Gearoid or any other Leader.
Scout Troop Meeting
As soon as the Scouts gathered in the den. The Scout Prayer was said. We had two visitors to the Scout Den they were Garda Ronan Slevin of the Traffic Corps and Garda Michael Collins from Dungarvan Garda Station. They gave a chat to both the Scout Troop and the Venture Scout Group on Road Safety and Rules Of The Road. They accompanied this with a Video. There was much disappointment among the Scouts and Ventures that they did not have the chance to play with the Garda Equipment as the Cubs did. The two Garda were thanked by all present. They were presented by Brendan with the Unit Neckerchief and Badge as a small memento of their visit to the 4th.
There was just time towards the end of the meeting for some quick relay games. Which was great fun for all.
The Scouts were given a notice about Annual Camp. There is a typing error (just cannot get the staff) in the last paragraph, it should be that only those who have been on an Irish Annual Camp can attend a Foreign Annual Camp. I was too busy watching Man U getting beaten!
The meeting ended with the Scout Prayer.
Next weeks meeting is from 7:00 to 9:00 and is mufti. Everyone is to have a neckerchief.
Venture Group Meeting
The Venture Group Meeting was FULL UNIFORM. A brief talk by Sandy about Uniform and upcoming events it was out into the hall where they joined the Scout Troop for a Talk by the Garda and a Road Safety Video. They were also to of how the Rules Of The Road affect their lives and how important general road safety is for all of us. Michael Organ was busy with his camera and you can see these pictures on the blog spot. There is one that you have to guess who owns the Shoes.
If you have any questions get in contact with Sandy or any of the other Leaders.
