Glenshelane Official Opening
With work still to do we feel it is time to show everyone our Cabin in Glenshelane Scout Campsite. There will be an Official Opening on Sunday 24th 2007, Mass is at three o’clock and everyone is invited along. We would love to see Past Scouts, Leaders, and Parents of Past Scouts, Friends of the 4th, to come along and join us for this special day. There will be a Cup of Tea and maybe even a Sandwich afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you there, tell everyone. Parking will be an issue on the day so we would ask people to either use the Car Park on the other side of the river and stroll away up the path or use the Lyre Bridge way into Glenshelane, there will be stewards out to help with Traffic and Parking. We would ask in the interest of road safety to park sensibly.

Giant Sleep Over In Aid Of The National Children’s Hospital Tallaght
We have decided to get involved in Scouting Irelands Giant Sleep Over In Aid Of The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght. We are holding our Sleep Over in Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin on Saturday 16th. The Camping fee of €3-00 will be donated to the fund. Any Scouts and Guides interested should have their Leader contact Brendan. We will be Camping out. So far the Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venture Scouts from Abbeyside and Guides from Dungarvan are taking part. Each Section must have a Leader.

Cub Pack Meeting
The Cub Pack Meeting this week started at the much earlier time of six o’clock. John was the Cub to say the Cub Scout Prayer. Gearoid did ‘Roll Call’ with David. It was straight into the Fun as some games were played, ‘Switch’ which is always a great favourite, along with ‘Where’s My Chicken’ and some ‘Crab Soccer’. During the meeting the Cubs were shown how to do a turn to the Left or the Right using their ‘heal and toe’. The Scout Promise was also read through by everyone and their understanding of the ‘Scout Law.

Notices were given to everyone present and if there are any questions parents should contact Gearoid, he will be able to help you out.

Next weeks meeting is Mufti (non uniform) but everyone must were their neckerchief, the meeting is Bowling in Clonea Strand Hotel. The meeting starts at 16:45pm and will finish at 18:00pm. The cost of this meeting is €3-00.

Each of the Cubs was also given the next Challenge Badge, this is the Home Help Badge. All the Cubs should be much more helpful around the homes.

Scout Troop Meeting
There was no Scout Troop Meeting this week as the Patrols did their own activities. Tiger Patrol stayed in the Den on Friday Night, the Wolf Patrol went to the Cinema on Monday to see ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 3, Edge Of The World’.

Next weeks Meeting is a hike so each Scout needs to get in contact with your Patrol Leader, Wolf Patrol Aaron, Tiger Patrol Tom, and Eagle Patrol Joe. So get out you boots and rain gear, we shall see you on Saturday, Where and When ask Your PL.

There was no Venture Group Meeting. Some of the Ventures went on Friday Night to the Cinema to see ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 3, Edge Of The World’. Must be a good Movie might go and see it myself.
