Leaders News
The Leaders will be attending Skills Training in Mount Melleray Scout Centre this weekend, this is all part of their ongoing Woodbadge Training. A new directive from Scouting Ireland will see all Adults involved in Scouting Ireland undergo a new Child Protection Course.

Cub Scout Pack - News & Information
This weeks meeting started with Eoghan saying the cub prayer. Subs were then taken up by Michael while Gearoid welcomed new cubs Rory and Isaac to the Cub Scout Pack. It was then time for the long awaited changes to the Clan formations which were talked about last week and the leaders felt were needed because of the growing numbers in the pack over the last number of weeks. As a result we now have two extra clans, those being the Panther and Kestrel Clans with the clan leaders being Darragh McGrath and Cal Franklin and the assistant clan leaders being Conor Foley and Eoghan Burke respectively. It was then time to test out the new team work by playing the card relay game which the newly formed Panther clan won due to an error picking one of the cards from the Tiger clan. We won't name the individual who made the mistake "this " time! The Wolf clan then teamed up with the Panther clan against the Tiger clan and the Kestrel clan in the "x" game. This became very competitive and somewhat rough at times and at the end both sides were level so to determine the winners Seanie, got one of the clan leaders from each side to run up to the stage, do 5 press-ups and back to their clans. The race was Darragh V Ruairi with Darragh winning. Colm and Ryan then did their book reader reports for the rest of the pack who this week paid very careful attention to what was being said. I wonder why? Well done to Colm and Ryan who did the reports and then answered the questions that the rest of the pack had on the books they had read. Gearoid then went through what you should bring with you on an overnight, such things as a sleeping bag, pillow, P.J.’s, wash gear and unbreakable eating utensils. He then went through a rug sack and how the cubs should pack this before they go away for an overnight or a weekend. The reason for this is the cubs were then handed out a notice about an overnight stay in Mount Melleray on Friday night October 19th which Brendan had typed out very carefully. Cubs to be there at 8p.m. and collected the following morning at 10a.m.If any parents have any questions they can contact Gearoid or any of the other leaders beforehand. Eoghan then said the prayer and everybody were then dismissed.

Scout Troop – News & Information
The meeting this week was mufti to give everyone a chance to get all their badges on their uniform and was started as usual with the saying of the Scout Prayer by everyone present. The meting this week was to be more fun based. Once roll call was done and deposits for Annual Camp collected two teams were made of the Scout Troop. A game of ‘Over N’ Under’ was played, and on the second attempt Joes team beat Toms team. It was time for a game that had not been played in the Den for a long while called ‘shoe’ all Scouts removed their shoe’s and placed them in the middle of the Scout Den, then with the lights out try and find their shoes, last to find theirs were Ben and Joe. Eamonn then continued the ‘Photography’ Merit Badge started last week, the Scouts were shown the inside of a Camera and how the shutter works. Some of the Scouts had photo’s they had taken for the Badge. Next it was a game of ‘Head n Harp’ and after several minutes Brendan did actually flick the coin, with Tom winning this, a game of ‘Number Soccer’ was played with a rugby ball, which finished all square six each.
Before the meeting finished notices were talked about with the overnight on Friday Night being the main topic of conversation. The cost for each Scout is €5-00 and the Patrols are to sort out food them selves, any questions about food can be answered by Aaron and Kevin. Scouts will need the following gear, Sleeping Bag, Small Pillow, Blanket, Night Clothes (P.J.’s), Wash Gear, Eating Gear, Rain Gear, Change of Clothes, and Spare Footwear. There is no need for extra money to be brought as we will not be going to a shop. All Scouts must be wearing their Group Neckerchief, this is a Rule for ALL non Uniform Activities. Scouts should be at the Scout Centre in Mount Melleray for nine o’clock and organise to be collected on Saturday by eleven. There will be no Saturday Night meeting. Scouts were also reminded about the Annual Group Mass on the 18th November, the Indoor Cooking Competition 18th November, Annual Registration which is due to be paid by December 15th €40-00. Uniform and having Badges in the right places..
The Meeting finished with the saying of the Scout Prayer. A Court Of Honour was held with the PL’s and APL present. Annual Indoor Cooking Competition was talked about with a Menu being decided. Patrol Leader Training was talked about, and the South Eastern Province Youth Forum in Mount Melleray. It was around ten before this finished.

Venture Scout Group – Information
Sandy was back in charge again this week for a Full Uniform meeting, unfortunately Sandy’s idea of Full Uniform and some the Ventures was slightly different but they are getting there. The meeting was spent talking about the upcoming ‘bivi-out’ in Glenshelane. Deposits were paid for Annual Camp as well as the County Paint Balling and the South Eastern Province Youth Forum in Mount Melleray. Ventures are reminded to return their Activity Consent Forms if they have not done so already. For further information contact Sandy. Full Uniform
Full Uniform is Black Polished Shoes/Boots, Navy/Black Socks, Uniform Trousers, Uniform Belt, Uniform Jumper (Cubs), Uniform Shirt (Scouts), Group Neckerchief, Woggle (Plus Spare), Lanyard (Scouts), Whistle (Scouts), Badges, Group Cap, Uniform Jacket (Scouts).

Any Scout or Cub in the Unit longer than six weeks should have this Uniform. Scouting Ireland is a Uniformed Organisation.

The Scout and Cub Scout Uniform are available from the Outdoor Adventure Store, Mc Curtain Street, Cork.

We carry some items such as Group Badge €3-50, Group Neckerchief €5-50, Woggle €1-50, and Group Baseball Cap €15-00. As well, as some other small items. Just ask the Leaders and they will help you out.
