Scouts have been advised if buying hiking boots then they should maybe try and get black ones that way they can be used as part of their uniform and save on getting shoes.
Any Venture, Scout or Cub in the Unit longer than six weeks should have this Uniform. Scouting Ireland is a Uniformed Organisation. The Venture, Scout and Cub Scout Uniforms are all available from the Outdoor Adventure Store, Mc Curtain Street, Cork. Just ask the Leaders and they will help you out. If there is anyone who has been in the Cubs or Scouts and wishes to pass on their Uniform in part or full contact one of the Leaders. Thank You.

Waterford Scout County – Cub Scout Camp
We all arrived at Mount Melleray Scout Activity & Sports Centre last Friday Night full of energy and ready to go for a weekend full of fun and friendship. Once out in the field, where the Leaders had pitched the tents the previous night, Gearoid took a roll call and subs for the weekend before both he and Brendan gave everyone a list of rules which were to be strictly obeyed by everyone, these were for the safe running of the weekend and for everyone’s enjoyment. The Cubs then said farewell to their parents before each Clan was then given a tent to sleep in for the weekend. We then headed down to the centre itself where Gearoid and Brendan showed the Cubs the toilet facilities and also where they would be eating over the next couple of days.
It was back up to the Camping Field where Brian Fanning, Waterford Scout County, officially opened the Weekend. As part of this ceremony each Cub was presented with a Neckerchief as a souvenir of the weekend. The neckerchief itself is green with a patch on the back designed by a Cub from Butlerstown, she was presented with the first neckerchief as well as the neckerchief in a frame. A few games were played in the half acre before we were served supper by the catering crew of the 4th Waterford, with the help of two Scouts from Ferrybank, which helped get us through the night. It was then time to go to our tents and settle down for an extremely wet night to come. After breakfast the following morning we played a variety of games indoors which not only built up a big appetite for dinner but also took or minds off the never ending rain outside which was threatening to cancel our bases in the afternoon. Once dinner was eaten and the announcement came that our bases would have to be held indoors, although disappointed we had a great time with a total of seven different ones to complete ranging from rounder's to dodge ball to pool to golf and many more. Teatime soon arrived, as did some rest period. A surprise for everyone then arrived in the shape of an ice cream van that went down a treat with Cubs and Leaders alike, before the Campfire and a fabulous getting together of everyone involved in the weekend. The long day was soon evident on some little faces and we all retired for the night to bed. Morning saw everyone still a bit tired but cheery and after breakfast, tents and gear were packed away before we all had lunch, said our goodbyes and headed home. The weather may not have been the best but the weekend was a one to be remembered by all whom attended.
