Cub Pack Meeting

The first Cub meeting of the New Year was started as Sean led the Cub Pack in the saying of the Cub Scout Prayer. As Gearoid did ‘Roll Call’ Brendan took registration from the Cubs and Sandy gave Uniform Caps to those looking for them. Kieran and David organised their game while the Cubs warmed up doing a few quick relays. Michael sorted out Uniform Badges.

David and Kieran keeping the two teams lined the Cubs up on either side of the Scout Hall and each member of the teams given a number from one to nine and two gaols set up either end of the Hall. A number is called and each Cub with that number must try and score a gaol using the football placed in the middle of the Hall. The team with highest score win.

Gearoid then did the first part of Cyclist Challenge Badge, the Cubs began by drawing a bicycle and naming as many parts as they could. Gearoid then using his bicycle went through the different parts from the simple parts, like the wheel, handle bars, forks, frame, to the bottom bracket and stem.

With the meeting coming to a close the Cubs were reminded about Registration Fee of €38-00 was due next week.

The following Uniform Parts are available from the Leaders during the meetings, Uniform Caps €15-00, Group Neckerchief and Woggle €7-00, Group Patch, County Patch, Glen Patch €7-00.

The meeting ended with the Cub Scout Prayer being said by Conor. The Cub pack ‘fell out’ and went home. Next weeks meeting is full uniform.
Scout Group Meeting
As the Scout Group gathered and form up in Patrols ready for the start of the meeting. The Scouts said the Scout Prayer and went to their Patrol Corners. David, Kieran and Michael did uniform inspections while Gearoid and Eamonn did ‘Roll Call’, Sandy and Brendan took Registration Fees and Uniform money. Patrick and Marco were gathering their thoughts about the games they planned for the meeting.

Number Football was then organised by S.P.L.’s Marco and Patrick lining the Scout Group up and numbering them off in to two teams, putting one team on either side of the Scout Den and trying to score a gaol in the other teams gaol when your number is called the highest score wins. Using the same teams a game of heads and harp was played. Both teams line up facing each other. One team is called ‘Heads’ and the other ‘Harp’ if their team name is called the must make their way to their safe area at either end of the Scout Den before being tagged by a member of the other team, winner here is last Scout standing. The teams name to be called is decided on the flick of a coin by one of the S.P.L.’s.

With time almost up the Patrols formed up and notices were covered. The Scouts were reminded that Annual Registration was due, that deposit’s were being taken for Annual Camp, anyone needing a Group Baseball Cap they are back in stock as well as neckerchiefs and woggles.
