Glenshelane Official Opening
Even with some work still to do we feel it is time to show everyone our Cabin in Glenshelane Scout Campsite. There will be an Official Opening on Sunday 24th 2007, Mass is at three o’clock and everyone is invited along. We would love to see Past Scouts, Leaders, and Parents of Past Scouts, Friends of the 4th, to come along and join us for this special day. There will be a Cup of Tea and maybe even a Sandwich afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you there, tell everyone. Parking will be an issue on the day so we would ask people to either use the Car Park on the other side of the river and stroll away up the path or use the Lyre Bridge way into Glenshelane, there will be stewards out to help with Traffic and Parking. We would ask in the interest of road safety to park sensibly.

Scout Troop Hike
The Scouts gathered at the Scout Den at one present were, Anthony Drohan, Chris James, Declan Leonard, Tony O’Mahony, Owen Kirkham, Aaron Fraher, Alex Fay, and Ben Cliffe. The Leaders present were Brian ‘Muller’ Mulvihill, Sandy Griffin, Gearoid Fraher and Brendan Kiersey. Michael Organ and Kieran Harty were present to see everyone off.
It was out to Ballyvoile, for the hike, the Scouts then started to walk towards Stradbally for the point where they would cross onto the railway line to walk through the railway tunnel, Brendan did a relay dropping a group of Scouts at a time further up the road, meanwhile Muller and Sandy were busy being farmers by herding some calves along the road, they had escaped from a farmers field, the calves that is not Sandy and Muller.
The heat of the sun was intense, as everyone was covered in sun cream. It was on to the railway tracks and towards the Railway Tunnel, where it was a lot cooler. It was not long before they arrived at Ballyvoile Railway Bridge, crossing this gave everyone a great view out onto the cove and the sea beyond. Walking further along the track brought everyone back to where the cars were parked and some welcome fresh water.
With the Scouts being ahead of time it was down to the Cove and some time on the beach before heading home.
