Cub Pack News

Ruari Conway had the honours this week of starting the meeting by leading the Cub Pack in the saying of the Cub Scout Prayer. Roll was then done, and ticket money from sold books of the Twelve Days Of Christmas Draw was collected. We would like to thank all those who bought tickets, everyone is reminded to have the ticket stubs back before Saturday 2nd December.

Then a few relay games were played, where each Clan had to work as a team, then a relay game with a twist testing communication skills as well as speed. As usual the Cubs put in their best efforts and it was a close call Conor Harty’s Clan winning one and Owen Kirkham ‘s Clan winning another. Clan Leader was time then to finish off the Cub Scouts Cards as part of Artist Challenge Badge there is just one part left for the Cubs to do and this will be started at the next Cub Meeting. The Cubs worked very hard on their Cards using Glue, Glitter (which most of went on the Cubs themselves), stick on stars, colours and tape. After the Leaders looked at each card they were given back to the Cubs to bring home.

Before the meeting finished the Cubs were given two notes, the first about next weeks meeting which is on Friday night instead of Saturday as we are going to go Star Gazing in the Sports Centre, an Astronomy Show will take place. The cost of this is €5.00 per person and is Full Uniform. All Cubs are to be there at Eight Fifteen and the meeting will end at Half Past Nine. The Second Notice is about next months Annual Scout Mass on Sunday 10th December at Half Past Nine (09:30 am) in Abbeyside Church. Ruairi finished up the meeting leading the Cub Pack in saying of the Cub Scout Prayer. The Cubs were reminded that there is NO Meeting for Cubs next Saturday Night.

Scout Group News

With the activity of last weekend it was back to normal, whatever normal is around the Scout Den. The meeting began at eight with Patrol Formation and everyone saying the Scout Prayer. It was finally time to check on every ones uniforms and the excuses started straight away with SPL Marco being blamed for Cathal not having his uniform on. The rest of the Troop were missing various parts of their uniform with new Scout Adam Dee being outstanding as he only had badges to put on his Uniform, well done Adam. Neckerchiefs are available form the Leaders with woggles for €7.00 every Scout should have a spare neckerchief and woggle. While Gearoid, Eamonn and Brendan were doing inspections, Michael Organ was taking Roll with David Hickey while Kieran Harty looked after Ticket money from the Twelve Days Of Christmas Draw. Marco and Patrick were planning a test work program for the new Scouts. It took a lot longer than expected for the Uniform Inspection to be fully done with Damien claiming that even though he had nun of his uniform on he had dark socks. We would like to see the Full Uniform. Some drill movements were then done in preparation for next months drill challenge, this will be on a knock out basis where if you move the wrong way when an order is given you are out after the warm up period. Then Brendan spoke to each of the Patrols about last weeks cooking competition and where marks were lost once again and how high the standard of cooking was.

Next weeks Scout Meeting is at half past seven and is mufti wrap up it will be outdoors.

The meeting finished with notices and the Scout Prayer being said by everyone.
